Description
Beehive craypots are proven to catch more crays by creating a more natural climb for the crayfish, allowing them to enter into the pots without getting knocked off by the swell. Wairarapa commercial fishermen have taken time and done a trial on different types of pots to see which ones performed the best and beehive came out on top, especially close in to shore when there is a swell. I have been making pots locally for a few years and due to demand we’ve now expanded to selling them on the web throughout New Zealand.
Some Cray-Zee hints on setting pots
Put Cray bait in mutton cloth to keep sea lice out so bait lasts longer. Use oily fish as bait ,soak mutton clothed in fish oil from the warehouse before setting. Always have buoy rope on inside of pot ,facing towards shore if close in with a swell. Use small fish net buoys as markers. If water is clean and clear go to $2 shop and get glow sticks to hang in pot it really does work. Due to recent increases in the price of the wire that we use to make our pots with, we have had to reluctantly increase the price of the pots. This means we can keep the high quality of our product that our customer love. Weight: 4-5kg Approximately 850-900mm and 350- 400 height
